CSA - 2013 Season - Weeks 11 and 12

Week 11

Week 11 - I took the boys as Brad had an early wedding.  We scored a prime parking spot right behind our farm's booth!  Our loot this week included:
  •  1/2 dozen eggs
  • 2 lbs heirloom tomatoes
  • 10 oz green beans
  • 2 green peppers (1/2 lb)
  • 1 zucchini (5 oz)
  • 2 yellow squash (1 lb)
  • 1 garlic (1.5 oz)
  • 6 ear of corn (3.5 lb)
The corn this year has been out of this world!  The boys LOVE it!  We ate that as a side with a few meals during the week.  The green beans were gone by Saturday night.  The boys ate half with their lunches, and I finished the rest with dinner.  The zucchini found its way into a batch of pasta sauce with venison.  And the yellow squash was used for a delicious batch of stuffed squash.  The peppers were sliced up for my sandwiches this week.

Week 12
Week 12 - After Brad let me sleep until 7:48 - both boys awoke at 6:15 - he, along with his dad, took the boys up to the market so I could make the house look a little less like the place where tidiness goes to die.
Week 12
I'm not sure what I did with the pictures, but trying to make them larger just makes them messy and pixelated.  So, you'll have to take my word for it that everything is simply beautiful.

This week we have:

  • 2 patty pan squash (15 oz)
  • 10 apples (1.75 lb)
  • 4 green peppers (15 oz)
  • 1 zucchini (9 oz)
  • 1 summer squash (6 oz)
  • 3 heads lettuce (11 oz)
  • 5 heirloom tomatoes (2 lb)
  • 6 ear of corn (5 lb 10 oz)
  • 1/2 dozen eggs

CSA - 2013 Season - Weeks 7, 8, 9, 10

Ok, so time got away from me.  Here's the round-up for the last four weeks.  Somehow, I don't have a picture for week 8, though I swear I remember arranging everything and taking one.  Oh well, water under the bridge.  Here we go.

Week 7 we took home 1 bunch (13 oz) onions, 4 ears (2 lb, 5 oz) corn, 3 (1 lb, 7 oz) cucumbers, 1 bulb (2 oz) garlic, 1 bag (1 lb) tomatoes,  4 (3 lb) summer squash, and half a dozen eggs.
Week 8 - again, sorry, no picture - our share included 1 bag (10 oz) tomatoes, 1 bunch (13 oz) fennel, 1 bag (4 oz) salad greens, 1 bulb (2 oz) garlic, 4 (1.5 lb) squash, 4 ears (2 lb, 10 oz) corn, and half a dozen eggs.

Last week, Week 9, we brought home 7 ears (3 lb) corn, 1 bunch (2 oz) basil, 1 bag (6 oz) kale, 12 oz cherry tomatoes, 1 bulb (2 oz) garlic, 1 white onion (6 oz), 1 yellow onion (5 oz), 4 yellow squash (1.5 lb), 2 cucumbers (1.25 lb).  We usually have a half dozen eggs, too, but we forgot to grab them this week.

And that brings us to this week.  Week 10.  Today we had 4 ear of corn, 1 cantaloupe (2.5 lb), 1 eggplant (1 lb), 2 lb heirloom tomatoes, 2 oz basil, 2 lb summer squash, and 2 heads of lettuce (5 oz).  We did remember to grab the eggs this week :)  Some of the goodies aren't in the picture because they had been eaten before I was able to set everything up for the photo.

We've mostly been using our veggies as sides.  Some things have been included on pizzas or pastas, but everything works beautifully on its own, too.  We are so lucky to have this opportunity each year!
